Please Disregard

On this site, there are the following pages:
  1. The introduction to and explanation of the project
    1. On this page, I explain what I chose to analyze, and why I chose to analyze that particular thing. I also reflect on what I learned, and why I think I ultimately failed to depict an event.
  2. Timeline
    1. On this page, you can click on a timeline that I made. This timeline is based on the object of analysis. Because I chose to analyze when Trump was held to have wanted to shoot immigrants in the legs with sniper rifles in front of a moat with snakes and alligators, this timeline is composed of news items and ephemera that were recirculated again once Trump was supposed to have said this. This recirculation/reorganization of time created the conditions in which the main news item in question--Trump, sniper rifles, etc.--was categorized as #nottheonion. Although I don't know if I believe if this lives up to the status of an event anymore, my thinking on this is, that reorganization of time is a kind of "fold" (Deleuze) that creates an exceptional subjectivity, and it is that exceptional subjectivity that sends right signals to be categorized as #nottheonion. Anyways, what you see on this timeline is everything leading up to the main news item in question--Trump, sniper rifles, etc.--but not including the main news item itself. The timeline includes that which was recirculated after the main news item came to the fore.
  3. Recurrence.
    1. On this page, I show evidence of recirculation. So, whereas on the Timeline page I pointed to ephemera and news items that would recur, on this page, I show that recurrence itself: that is, after 9/30/19. On the Timeline, you see everything prior to 9/30/19, whereas here, on the Recurrence page, you see everything after 9/30/19.
  4. Not the Onion.
    1. On this page, I show evidence of the main news item in question--Trump, sniper rifles, etc.--being recategorized as #nottheonion.
  5. Reflection
    1. Despite the stigma attached to this word in this context, I thought it appropriate to briefly reflect on what happened. If you're looking to just see whether I learned anything, or to avoid stepping into the mess that is "The introduction to and explanation of the project," I recommend starting here. In a way, in this reflection, I conclude. On this page, I land the analysis, showing how I failed and why.
